740 Madison Avenue

Description 

Located in the Upper East Side Historic District, 740 Madison Avenue was originally designed in 1879 by architect John G.  Prague as the corner anchor to a row of Neo-Grecian style townhouses on East 64th Street. Luxury Retailer Bottega Venetta, purchased the properties in 2014 and began a renovation to combine the three buildings into one 24,000 square foot retail space. The project included a new storefront, full façade restoration and roof replacement. Nicholson & Galloway was contracted to perform the following work:

  • 3,000 square feet of chemical cleaning brick
  • 1,000 square feet of new brick façade
  • 80 new granite base stones
  • 671 new cast stone units at new storefront
  • 1,200 square feet of new 3 coat brownstone stucco
  • 480 hand tooled brownstone patches
  • 130 linear feet of balustrade reconstruction
  • 3,000 square feet of slate roofing with new copper trim
  • 2,500 square feet of IRMA Roof System with new pavers
