The Woolworth Building

Description

The Woolworth Building, designed by Cass Gilbert, is a landmark Neo-Gothic early American Skyscraper constructed between 1910 and 1912. The façade is mostly decorated with Terracotta and limestone on the lower units. It is currently one of the 30 tallest buildings in NYC. Between 2015 and 2018 the top 30 floors were converted to luxury apartments and Nicholson & Galloway was contracted to perform the following work:

  • 16,300 square feet of cold fluid applied roofing
  • 440 linear feet of GFRP roof cresting
  • Permanent rigging system
  • Over 3,350 pieces of new terracotta installed
  • Repairs to over 18,000 existing terracotta units
  • Over 12,500 square feet of dead level concrete pavers on pedestals
  • 450 square feet of IPE decking at the 58th floor observation octagonal deck
  • Restoration of marble coping stones at historic swimming pool
