Chrysler Building

Description

Nicholson & Galloway completed the restoration of this 1929 landmark’s spire with work consisting of:

  • Surveying all of the stainless steel
  • Soldering hundreds of holes and defects in the metal
  • A complete cleaning and polishing of the spire

In addition to work on the spire, we rebuilt a total of fifty-six story’s of brick corners above the 61st floor level. This work was performed from a combination of stationary and swing-stage scaffolding designed by Nicholson & Galloway. All brick was custom-made to match the original white and green clay-coat brick.

A total of ten quarry tile setback terraces on the 58th and 61st floors were removed down to the substrate and replaced with new IRMA roof systems covered with decorative concrete pavers.
