1790 Broadway Nordstrom

Description
Originally Built in 1912 as the headquarters of the U.S. Rubber company, this Individual NYC Landmark was designed by Architects Carrere & Hastings. The original facade was clad in Vermont Marble which was a departure from the brick, limestone and terracotta that was commonplace in buildings during that era. In the 1950’s the original ground floor columns and arches were demolished and replaced with gray marble modernist slabs. In an effort to return the building to its original state, Nicholson & Galloway was contracted to perform the following scope of work:
- Furnish and set 85 precast concrete pieces, some weighing up to 23,000 pounds
- 3500 Linear feet of caulking
